MRC  Volunteer Training                            

Tooele County is located in Homeland Security Region 2. Tooele County Health Department is the lead agency for the county health response and recovery activities.  Bucky Whitehouse, Emergency Planner, will recruit, train, and manage the Tooele County MRC program.  He will create  physician, nurse, emergency service, and staff logistic teams.

The MRC Emergency Planner is directly responsible to verify current licensure, education, and training of all members who are licensed healthcare providers. He will also provide instruction to non-medical volunteers. Training conducted will be disease, function, and NIMS centered. Training will be conducted on an annual basis, and MRC orientation and Basic Disaster Life Support will be given to all members.  Training will be conducted in, but not limited to, the following areas:
a. Disease centered
b. Function centered
c. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
d. Use of communication equipment
e. Disaster and terrorism related topics call down exercises and tabletop exercises.

 

All MRC members will receive an initial eight hour orientation and annual training's thereafter. Workshops and exercises will be available throughout the year. MRC members will be encouraged to attend additional training opportunities. A newsletter, list serv, and other mediums will be used to keep MRC members informed of training opportunities and to provide a limited amount of education relevant to their positions. Medical and non medical MRC volunteers will have opportunities to practice their skills during mass clinics which will be offered every year.

 

 
MRC members will not disseminate any public information unless specifically asked to do so by the Tooele County Director of Health, or Bucky Whitehouse, Emergency Planner/PIO. Public information management for the MRC will be coordinated throught TCHD PIO/RCC and the Tooele County JIC.  The UDOH Communication Office will ensure adequate public information resources are available to effectively support the efforts to provide media and public information.  Any Tooele County MRC information determined to be confidential/sensitive would not be considered for public release.
